Sofia’s Recovery Journey

This GoFund Me was created on behalf of my sister, Kaitlin and her family. At almost 34 weeks pregnant, with her and Dante’s third child, Kaitlin was diagnosed with COVID. Kaitlin was taken to Methodist for an emergency c-section where she gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Sofia Ann Raffaelli. Unfortunately, Kaitlin was put on a ventilator and Sofia was taken to Riley where they found a perforation in her intestine. Sofia had colostomy surgery. She is still in the NICU at Riley and getting stronger every day. Kaitlin had the ventilator removed today, after 16 days! While this is all great news there is still a long road ahead for both Kaitlin, Sofia, and the rest of the family. Meanwhile, Dante is dividing his time to take care of the boys, spending time with Sofia at one hospital and Kaitlin at another every day. This page is intended to relieve the family of some of the financial burdens that these unseen and unfortunate circumstances have created.
