Kaila's Volunteer EMT Trip to Israel

Your time and support mean everything to me.

Just a few hours ago, I was offered the opportunity of a lifetime - to work and serve on an ambulance in Israel with Magen David Adom - Israel's national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance, and blood bank team. MDA works tirelessly to provide life-saving emergency medical services in over 100 locations throughout the country of Israel. MDA relies heavily on its volunteers to ensure effective provision of emergency care. This is a wonderful organization to which I'd love to contribute my time before beginning my accelerated nursing program this June.

On February 9, 2020, I will be flying to Tel Aviv and then taking a bus to Jerusalem, where I will attend a 10-day all intensive EMT training course with students from all over the world. Training consists of 12-hour lessons each day, followed by studying the material and my Medical Hebrew. After successfully completing the course, I will be working 40 hours a week as an EMT at the station which I am assigned. I am beyond excited and proud to have the opportunity to work with and learn from members of Israel's well-established emergency medical teams.


To make this opportunity a reality, I am asking for some assistance in funding the costs of the trip. My goal of $3800 will cover tuition for the program, housing, flights, and some food & ground transportation.

I realize how fortunate I am to have been given this chance and would love to grasp it while it's here. By participating in this program, I  will gain invaluable experience serving on Israel's medical workforce, and this would be a pivotal experience in my professional endeavors of becoming a lifelong caregiver.  By volunteering as an EMT, I will develop my emergency care skills to help me become a better nurse, while opening my eyes to new perspectives about healthcare, as well as life, from people from all over the world.

I've been working hard to save for nursing school so I truly know how precious each dollar is, and I thank you if it's even one you can share with me.

I have dreamed of returning to Israel since the day I left, and to return as a volunteer who is able to give back to the place which offered me so much is truly, truly humbling. What may be even more humbling is the support of family and friends like you who have taken interest in supporting my professional goals.
