Kai's family and home rebuild

My husband, Ben, and I went back to Houston three weeks ago (before Harvey).... we used to live there and have many friends and family that still do. This visit wasn't a happy one. We were returning to support our friend Kai Jones and his family at the funeral services for his beloved mother. She had passed very unexpectedly of a heart attack. Her husband, children, and young grandchildren were devastated. We knew this family would take a very long time to heal, but they are strong and full of love.
Two weeks later, Hurricane Harvey hit. It hit this family hard. Kai is a devoted family man. His wife, Mia, and children Carter (7) and Kensley (4) are his world. He works tirelessly as a community banker and community leader, assisting local businesses and charities throughout the Houston area. He has been putting everything he earns into his home so his wife and children won't have to worry.
Hurricane Harvey has taken his home away. It is under several feet of water and they've lost everything. Worst of all is that there is no flood insurance. The entire extended family is staying with his sister nearby, and the situation is tragic. Everyone still cries over the loss of their mother/grandmother and wounds are not able to heal.
We feel like we can do something though, with your help, to give this family hope and faith again.
Kai isn't asking for help, nor do we think he ever would. This money will go towards replacing some of what has been lost and allow them to start rebuilding their home, and in turn, rebuilding their family.
Yes, there are wonderful organizations out there that are collecting large amounts of money for the entire Houston area. We want to do what little we can to give support to this one family in particular, and our dear friend Kai. Please help in whatever way you can! Every little bit helps.
We pledge $500 to start this campaign because Kai has always been there for us, and we love his family. They deserve some peace of mind that things will eventually be better, and that they will get their home re-built.
