Kahnonstaton (The protected place)

This fundraiser is for Kahnonstaton (The protected place), located in between Caledonia and Six Nations of the Grand River. Following the highway blockades in solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en peoples’, there is a group of young individuals creating a community garden and self-sustaining food system for the community. 

This fundraisers goal is to get money that can go towards the initial start-up plan for the garden. The money will go towards things like - livestock, housing, tools - both gardening and hand tools (non-power-based), hay, corals, feed bins etc. Essentially a farm :) 

Farmers and facilitators that are able and willing to share their farming skills and knowledge with the young people at the site are also appreciated. All knowledge is welcome and valued. Folks are specifically interested in regenerative agriculture knowledge and permaculture, also Indigenous knowledge around food. 

This page is also to ask for support that is non- monetary based. If you are able to donate seeds, lumber, windows for a greenhouse, wood for heating, physical support and whatever you feel you are able to offer. Monetary donations are secondary to the physical items folks are asking for - the actual items are just as good - if not better - than money. 

We understand that this is a unique time given the presence of COVID 19 - and measures are being taken to ensure that everyone is safe. We request that everyone coming to bring things to the site wear Personal Protective Equipment and stay at the entry gate.
