Kadyn's Service Dog

Donation protected
I have been living from birth with Classical Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Type 1 (cEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tacycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast-Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) but was only finally diagnosed in July 2017. I have also developed a Chiari Malformation and Gastroparesis over the course of my life. We were only able to find my diagnoses because my symptoms and quality of life have now deteriorated so much. With issues such as a high risk for major cardiac episodes, fainting, airway threatening allergic reactions and limited mobility, my medical team, family, and I have decided that getting a service dog is the next step in my being safe to live independently after college. Currently, I rely greatly on the people around me to walk with me to class, carry bags in from grocery shopping and other basic daily tasks that I'm beginning to feel like a burden to those around me. This embarrassment aside, after I finish my undergrad degree and go to live independently, we have to account for what would happen if I was home alone and hit my head or couldn't get to a phone to call for help.  This is where my efforts to receive a service dog come in. I am applying for a mobility and psychiatric service dog. The company I'm working with guarantees a fully trained dog, free of charge, within 5 years but the issue with this is that I would have to move back in with my family, or find some shared living situation, for 2 years after finishing undergrad before I could attend grad school or live away from home. The faster we can raise the money, the faster I can receive my dog as it only takes a year and a half to fully train a dog to do the work that I need. $28,000 is the total cost of the dog and my family's goal is to raise $16,000 as soon as possible so that we can send the company this money and kickstart my more independent life.  Please give as you are able and know that my service dog will be able to help me lead a happier and more fulfilled life. Your donation will be aiding in my success for the next 8 working years of my dog's life.
