Kaden Taylor is a 3 year old boy with HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome) which a congenital heart defect in which the left heart is severly underdeveloped. He recently went in for his 3rd heart surgery, Fontan. The surgery itself went well, but unfortunetly Kaden suffered two strokes on both side of his brain leaving him with a signifigant amount of brain damage. Air got into the vessels that supplies blood to his brain. He cannot move his left hand, eat, talk or focus on things. He can move his legs but has very little control. At this time his brain in swollen so they will not be able to pinpoint the specific damage until the swelling goes down. After leaving the cardiac unit he will be placed on another floor where he will begin extensive therapy. The therapy could take weeks, months, possibly even years. Kaden's hospital stay was suppose to be for a week and a half, and now due to unforseen changes in Kaden's status, it is unsure how long he will remain in the hospital. Jake and Tiffany (mom and dad) will also need to be taking time away from work and the help provided here may give them some relief from additional stress of worrying about their finacial situation.
