K9 Jazz Needs Your Help

Jazz needs a MRI to determine if surgery is needed on his spine. Jazz is a 9 year old search and rescue dog, as well as a member of the Schumann family. Scott and Jazz have been search and rescue volunteers for the State of Virginia, through K9 Alert Search and Rescue Dogs, Inc. for these past 9 years. As an unpaid volunteer, Scott is financially responsible for all Jazz's care: food, vet bills, medications, as well traveling to and from searches and training, gear, etc.
To date, Scott has paid out of his pocket, regarding Jazz's spine problem, the visit to vet and neurological consult : $900 and the last two years which included Chiro/adaquan/x-Rays approx $1500. That's outside the allergy shots, vaccinations. Please consider donating to alleviate Scott's financial burden.

Jazz has been diagnosed with Wobbler syndrome, Wobbler syndrome is a neurologic disease of dogs that affects their spine in the neck region. It is a very common cause of neurologic disability in large breed dogs.. Jazz is schedule for a MRI after two weeks of complete rest. At that time, it will be determined if surgery is necessary. No matter his recovery, Scott has officially retired him.
It's always a tough emotional decision when to retire our working dogs, but we make that decision out of love and concern for them. Our dogs work very hard and eventually that takes a toll on them, and retirement comes as a bittersweet time for them to sleep more by the fire, chew on bones and walk in the woods.
Jazz, an English lab loves his SAR worked in Live Find Wilderness and Water Recovery. He is one special dog. Not only could he eat an entire pumpkin, he is also credited with several finds and recoveries. He will try to find his place, at home, enjoying the easier life and being a pillow for his kitty cat housemates.
The many long hours of training, transporting and searching, as well as giving Jazz the best care, add up to $$ well spent for all the years Scott and Jazz have been a certified (volunteer no less) search and rescue dog team. Please reach out now and thank Scott & Jazz with your helpful donation. All monies donated (apart from the 7% that goes to using this fund service) will go to Jazz's vet bill.
