Helping Vicki

My step mom Vicki has been in & out of hospitals for over a year now. Started with a heart attack and has gone down hill since. She has now been in the hospital for over a week,  in Intermediate Care. She has been diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease, causing Pulmonary Fibrosis...which is a chronic and progressive form of fibrosis (scarring) of the lungs. Her right lung is now about full of all the scarring. She is on a machine that  pushes air into lungs at a constant pace to help them expand, and shes also on oxygen. They have tried a few different drugs that were supposed to help slow down the scarring process, but that didnt work. The next choice we have is for a double lung transplant.  Due to her heart attack, they are going to test her heart and make sure it is strong enough to handle such an in-depth operation.  Then she will go out to the U of M and hopefully wait for a transplant to match her. Vicki have been out of work since Aug. this year...and she will not be going back any time soon. My dad has also been missing out on work because he's trying to be at her side any chance he can get.  He is at a loss... a stand still in life right now, and has no clue what way to turn. She is still young, and should not be going through all this...she should still be out making memories with my dad, all their kids, and grandkids. All funds raised will go towards all the medical expensise, all the regular life bills that need to still get paid, and to all the time my dad will spend out at the U of M with Vicki while waiting this transplant. Vicki and my Dad are two of the most wonderful people i have ever known. They are the 1st to help anyone out when needed. The 1st ones to make sure you get a phone call on your birthday! Thay are just all around amazing people.  I love them both so much and will do whatever is needed for them to get back to their regular life together.
