Hey Everyone! I just want to take a moment of your time and share my dear friends’ story with you. Their journey is near and dear to my heart. MJ and Kristin were there for me and gave me so much love and support while I was on a similar journey tying to start a family, I want to do a little something in return for them. I could not imagine two more deserving people of our support. Please read their story and if you are able, please donate to such a beautiful cause.
Kristin and MJ met in 2012, had a year of friendship and became an item in 2013. The happy couple said “I do” shortly after marriage equality was granted in 2015 and decided in the summer of 2017 that it was time to add Baby Ostrowski to the family. With no known fertility concerns, and knowing the additional barriers that LGBTQ couples face when trying to conceive, Kristin and MJ saved for months in planning to start this process. Starting the process in September 2017, MJ and Kristin started their journey. However, after many months of heartache and disappointment, they followed up with MJ’s OBGYN in February 2018 to explore any issues, completing lots and lots of exams procedures and blood work to find no concern for infertility. However, a doctor recommendation to follow up with the Institute for Reproductive Health was given. In May 2018, MJ and Kristin started working with specialists, completing several medicated IUI’s and a diagnostic procedure. After spending over $20,000 in the last year on medical processes, medication, injections, appointments, and purchasing donor sperm, MJ and Kristin are emotionally, physically, and financially depleted in this process. Insurance has served as an additional barrier, with no fertility coverage, making all expenses out of pocket. MJ’s doctor is now recommending IVF, as MJ has been given a diagnosis of unexplained infertility and the doctor’s recommendation to move forward as the next best option to grow their family. Yet, they remain hopeful and determined to become parents. Thank you for taking the time to read about their journey.
