A Helping Hand for a Friend

This is a fundraiser for a friend. Her name is Marie (She is on left in picture.). She recently underwent surgery for spinal stenosis, having no idea at the time what that would mean! Back surgery, right? Painful recovery? Understood. But what has happened since was something that no one expected, not even the surgeons! 

She had to wait a year for her surgery because the neurosurgeon (there is only one in the city that takes her insurance) was backed up. During that time she was not able to work due to the pain and not being able to stand for any length of time. She applied for disability, but was denied because she was not in a wheelchair. Of course there are appeals, but that takes time. Her friends tell her not to worry, but how can you not worry? 

Anyway, since surgery there have been severe complications. She has been transparent on Facebook, so I am pretty sure it is ok to share here. Living alone, unemployed, no income...and I have even had to take her dog because she cannot care for him right now. Then the nerves were severely damaged and that had led to incontinence, urinary and fecal. So you can see why working is currently impossible. The surgeon said this is very rare and IF the nerves recover it could take at least a year....if....

So, I am trying to help her out, ease her worry, and whatever raised will go towards living. Medications, food, utilities, personal care items to manage the incontinence. Trust me, this is a person who has been single most of her life and has worked until this unfortunate condition began in Oct. 2019. Depression is real. And worrying about where your rent is coming from or your medication or lights, food, and things most of us take for granted is not helping. So let's band together and give a friend a hand. Strangers are only friends you haven't met yet so don't let that stop you!
