K9 for Christian

Hi! My name is Christian, I am 8 years old, and I have autism. My mom says that means that my brain works differently. I like animals and bugs. I like to learn everything I can about them. I also like to play with my superhero action figures and in the summer I love to go swimming.
Mom and I went to the park the other day, we saw a gray squirrel. We also met Steve. Steve is from K9s for Kids and he trains German Shepherd dogs to help kids just like me! I was really nervous but I got to see another boy that was my size with his service dog and it was really cool.
Service dogs are really helpful for kids with autism. If I got a service dog Steve could train my dog to help me when I am feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
Sometimes I get so overwhelmed I cry and have a meltdown. Sometimes I do what my doctors call stimming and sometimes I dont like for anyone to touch me or come near.
I don't mean to I just feel so much inside at one time and I don't know how to express it all. My dog would be trained to comfort me when I am feeling nervous and to interrupt my meltdowns and stimming. My dog will also help keep me safe, when I am getting too far from mom or when I dont realize that I could be in danger. My service dog would be my best bud and my superhero!
But my mom says that service dogs and their training costs ALOT, 6 thousand dollars, and once we reach half of our goal I will get to pick out my service dog! Once we raise all the funds I will get to bring my dog home and we will get to see Steve every week for training.
So will you join us in our journey and help us get a K9 for me? Even sharing my story with your family and friends helps us get closer to our goal. Oh and one last thing, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
