Sometimes you go through life not realizing the importance of family, friends, and cherished moments with them. Until one day, your world is shaken to its core and your faith is tested when you find out that one of your loved ones could possibly be taken from you. This became our reality on August 8, 2018.
The night before this unexpected event. Close friends including Thuy decided to catch up and have dinner. We all knew that he was scheduled for surgery the next day. He reassured everyone that it was just a routine procedure for his on going cancer treatment, so none of us was worried. We went on to enjoy the rest of the evening, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.
The next day, not wanting to bother anyone, Thuy drove himself to the hospital for his routine procedure. According to the doctors, everything was going well until about a minute before the surgery was completed. Thuy’s heart unexplainably stopped beating. The doctors immediately began to perform CPR for fifty two minutes, but was unsuccessful. He was then put on life support while he was in an induced coma. After thoughts, prayers, and a week on life support, he fought back and slowly opened his eyes. Progress has been slow, but nevertheless, progress. The main focus at this point are his cognitive and motor functions.
