Please help !!
Hi. My name is Emily. I'm setting up this campaign for my fiance Joel. I'm not sure how to go about this so please bear with me. I'll start off with his visit to the ER a few months back. He was having a lot of chest pains, so he went to the hospital. At that point, he was diagnosed with a pericardial effusion. Well, a few months went by and his symptoms got worse. Throwing up every morning, to throwing up several times a day. So he ended up in the hospital again last week. This time his diagnosis even worse. Acute kidney failure. This was a huge shock to us being that he is so young. No one expects to hear this kind of thing at 38. He went in for a biopsy and was told that he has inflammatory kidney disease. But, his immune system is too strong. And instead of his immune system working with his kidneys, it's fighting against them. So they started him on some medications that will help suppress his immune system enough to allow his kidneys to fight the best they can.
Joel is a father and step-father to 6 kids between the ages of 3-10. He is an amazing father to these kids. The love he shows them, the silly things he does with them every 5 minutes, it's beautiful. He's worked in basement waterproofing for the past 17 years. He's dedicated his entire adult life to his work and his family. He has always gone out of his way to help others as much as he could. If someone needed a few dollars he was there. If someone needed a job, he would shuffle things around and make room for that person to be able to work. Everything he does, he does out of kindness. He cares about others more than he does himself at times. He never asks anyone for anything. If he was ever in need of anything he would work for it. Never wanted a handout. Not out of pride, but just not to inconvenience anyone with his situations. But now he finds himself in a position that is beyond his control. Beyond anyone's control.
They prescribed him 5 different medications. A mixture of steroids and chemo meds. one of his medications alone costs well over $700. Another $300 for a 30-day prescription.These are just two of the meds he needs. For a family of 8, this hits up pretty hard. His health insurance doesn't cover his medications, and he needs his medications in order to have a fighting chance. So I am asking you to please help us with his prescriptions. Any little bit count's and would be immensely appreciated. Please help, our kids and I need to keep him with us as long as possible!!!
