The Ana Fund

We are an early childhood development therapy team working with a young 2 year old girl who has Tay Sachs disease. This disease is a life limitining condition where children do not normally live beyond the age of four. Her parents came to Australia to seek asylum from the civil conflict and persecution in their country of origin.  Despite the severe emotional distress associated with seeking asylum from a war torn country, the family are experiencing extreme isolation, financial hardship and emotional distress as they prepare to say goodbye to their daughter. A huge concern for the family is that they do not have a car to transport their daughter and access medical appointments easily. At this stage, the family use taxi’s to get to and from appointments but financially this is not sustainable. Public transport is not an option due to the high medical needs of their daughter.
After much effort to seek funding and financial assistnace for the family, it became clear that their visa type limits what they are entitled to recieve. Therefore, we have set up this donations account in an attempt to raise enough money to either go towards a car or to buy the car. Any additional money will go to the family, towards costs related to running a car (ie. registration, insurance, petrol and hospital parking fees. Any assistance is much appreciated and the family would be forever grateful.
