Stephen Sickler & Family - House Fire Relief Fund

Donation protected
My name is Chelsey Alfieri. For the last three years, my husband Matt and I have been blessed to live across the street from one of the most giving, humble, and hardworking individuals we have ever known: Stephen Sickler. Steve is the epitome of what it means to be selfless. He is the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger if he knew that person needed it more than him. His entire life has been spent helping others out of the goodness of his heart, no questions asked, and with no expectation of him receiving anything in return. Even during trying moments, he never complains and is constantly looking out for everyone else. He is the most genuine friend and neighbor, and he is the best role model to his three, beautiful daughters, as well as his three-year-old granddaughter, Rubi.

Steve was residing in his Tunkhannock home with his middle daughter, Brittany, as well as Brittany’s daughter, Rubi. Through his home, Steve was also running a successful construction business in which he used to support his family. Over the years, Steve and the entire Sickler family had accumulated irreplaceable and cherished memories in their home, as Steve raised his girls there and had been blessed to watch Brittany raise Rubi. The passing of Steve’s father, John, this past December left a hole in all of their hearts, but Steve was reminiscent and grateful of the time he and his family had been able to spend with his dad in their family home during John’s last two years.

The Sickler family has been struck with tragedy after tragedy in the last year. Though, through it all, Steve has remained positive and hopeful. He has continued to give his all to others, despite the pain he has had to endure.

This past Friday, May 13th, the Sickler’s lives were turned entirely upside down when another tragedy struck. A devastating fire spread throughout Steve’s home, destroying all of their belongings, Steve’s business, and a lifetime of memories. Pictures, clothes, and countless other items were swallowed by the flames, and Steve, Brittany, and Rubi were left with little but the clothes on their backs. They no longer have a place to call home.

While no one was hurt and everyone made it out safe, by the Grace of God, Steve and his family are entirely numb with pain. They are still processing and trying to figure out their next steps.

It is expected to take months before the insurance companies for Steve’s home and his business make any progress, which is leaving Steve, Brittany, and Rubi in an extreme and difficult imposition.

Steve is not the type of person to accept help. He is too giving of a person to even ask, despite times like this when he needs it most. That is why I created this GoFundMe, in hopes of relieving some of the weight he is currently feeling and to show him how much he is loved and appreciated. Anyone who is blessed to know Steve knows how deserving this man is of this extra support right now, along with his entire family. While money cannot replace what was lost, it can help to provide clothes, food, and temporary housing, and any other immediate necessities. Any donation, even a dollar, would help Steve and his family tremendously.

Steve and his family want everyone to know how entirely grateful they are, from the bottom of their hearts, to everyone who has called, messaged, reached out, lent a helping hand, and offered their support the last few days. They are entirely taken back by the loving, giving, and wonderful people living in this community and extend their utmost gratitude to all.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this beautiful family and considering donating to bring them some relief and hope out of this devastation. You are appreciated more than you know.

Love and gratitude to all.
Chelsey
