“A baby is a blessing, a gift from heaven above, a precious little angel, to cherish and to love…….”

As you may all know, Mao and Neng welcomed their bundle of joy on June 24, 2014. During this beautiful pregnancy of hers, only the closest to her knew, that she had complications during the pregnancy. Mao was later put on bed rest because of preeclamsia and was only 27 weeks and 2 days when Nathan decided it was time to come out. It was 4:07 pm when Nathan Ntuj Tsim Yang had entered this world. Weighing only at 1 lbs. 5 oz and 11 inches long, Nathan had a long battle ahead of him.

After his birth, Nathan was immediately put into the neonatal intensive care unit. Because Nathan was born prematurely at 27 weeks and 2 days, his lungs were not fully developed. Baby Ntuj Tsim had chronic lung disease which caused him to have a collapsed lung. Nathan was intubated with the necessary equipment to help him breath shortly after birth. He was also put on a variety of medications to help his lungs heal at a faster rate. It was crucial that his lungs would respond to the medications and heal so that he would be able to breathe on his own.
Although, that is what his parents had hoped for, it did not go as planned.

After weeks of being in NICU, baby Nathan was certainly growing. He was gaining the necessary weight, his brain was developing well but the only thing that did not make any progress was his lungs. Labs were being drawn and analyzed but the results were not in Mao and Neng’s favor. In result of Nathan’s growing, his intubated tubes needed to come out and he needed to have a Tracheotomy.

Because he is a such strong boy, he continued to fight everyday, proving that miracles do happen. Nathan had proved to the doctors on numerous occasions that they should not lose hope on him and to not give up. His nurses would often tell his parents that Nathan is a fighter!

Months after his procedure, the only complication that existed was that again, his lungs were not improving at all. It is now January 2015, almost a solid 6 months had gone by since our little monkey Nathan was born. Although he continues to fight on a daily basis, the pain that he is going through is intolerable.

As a parent, no one wants to see their child suffer. Recently, Nathan’s labs were not looking so well. His organs were beginning to fail and his lungs were not improving. Two weeks ago the doctors finally showed them their frustration… Nathan's lung wasn't growing and they have done all that they could do for our little monkey and strongly advised them to think about his quality of life.

This was one of the toughest decision that Mao and Neng had to make. Letting go of their little baby. In the 6 ½ months that they have had with Nathan has been the most wonderful part of their life. Each day that they were given with this precious child of theirs has been a blessing.

As hard as it is to say good bye to him, they have come to term with their decisions. Nathan Ntuj Tsim Yang left the world peacefully today, January 17th, 2015 surrounded by his families and friends.

I asked that you have it in your heart to help donate for the cost of little Nathan's funeral.

Nathan, we will always love and miss you. But we now know that you are in a better place. May you rest in peace, little one.
