Trevor's Adoption Fund

My wife, Melanie, is a school teacher with a heart for kids.  She teaches kindergarten in a Title 1 (low-income) school in NC.  She has a true passion for kids that have challenges, as we have had raised one of our own that is now 14 years old that was labeled with ADHD at an early age.  Adamant to find a way for him to succeed, we worked until we found an answer.  Little did we know that we were going through this for a reason.

Melanie has a little boy in her class by the name of Trevor.  He's six years old and was held back last year due to academic challenges.  Since the beginning of school, he's been challenging from a behavior perspective (even being labeled with potential ADHD), acting out at times and choosing not to always make the right decisions.  She began to notice little things about him, like the fact that his clothes were very dirty.  He would only eat half of his breakfast in the mornings because his younger sister was hungry at night and he wanted to save it for her.  He had glasses at one time, but they were now broke, so he struggled to see, having to get very close to the words to make them out.

Having three other brothers and sisters and parents that struggled financially, needless to say his homelife was very poor with times in which they'd have to make it through the night with no heat in the middle of December.

To make a long story short, Trevor was able to come and live with us for a short while giving him the ability to experience a warm bed, clean clothes and plenty to eat.  We were able to give him one-on-one attention, extra love and hugs that allowed his personality to start to blossom and the behavior and anger issues to disappear.  With his glasses now fixed, he's asking questions, sounding out words and is eager to learn.

Upon Trevor returning home from his visit, his parents approached us about giving up their rights and allowing us to adopt him as they felt like they couldn't give him the home life and financial support that he desperately needed.  Though the situation is sad, we are extremely excited at what God has in store for this little mighty man of God!  He's already making strides just in the short time we've had him and the sky is truly the limit for him.

Adoption, needless to say, is extremely expensive and we are asking for ALL THE HELP we can get.  He came to us with a Walmart bag of dirty clothes - and that is it.  We've had to buy him everything, basically.  The fees should total somewhere around $5,000 by the time you factor lawyer costs as well as agency home inspection fees.  We would greatly appreciate your support as you would be playing apart in changing this childs life.

Thanks in advance...
