Kierra's Fund for a Dexcom!

Kierra is a typical 16 year old girl who absolutley loves life. She is involved in soccer, swimming, and chorus at school.

The only thing holding Kierra back right now is her inability to feel her "high's" and "lows". See Kierra was diagnosed at age 5 with Type I diabetes.  She was placed on a pump and we became adjusted to her life of "normalcy" for many years.

The teenage years, though, has set her back a little. We've had a rough couple years. Mom doesn't get much sleep because Kierra has been going low more now in the middle of the night. She's been life-flighted twice and been in and out of the hospital. The last hospital visit, though, introduced us to something called a Dexcom 4.

This little piece of breakthrough medical equipment can change Kierra's life back around. It's a constant sensor of her blood sugar. It can alert us to her low's, highs, and trends in her blood sugar. It woke Mom up in the middle of the night and alerted her to a low! Mom will even be able to monitor her sugar when she is swimming in the pool, out on the soccer field, over a friends, or standing on stage with the high school chorus. It will help Kierra begin to recognize her "high's" and "low's" again even while sitting in class. It will allow her to get her driver's license and be a typical kid again.
