We need your help.
Out of concern for the safety of our staff and our community, we closed our doors for business on March 17th. Since then, we have had difficult and honest conversations with our staff regarding the future. We informed our staff that even though we are closed, everyone would still receive full salaries until the end of May. However, it is safe to assume that the effects of COVID-19 on travel and tourism will last much longer than that.
Our island community of Nosy Be depends almost entirely on tourism and we have already been devastated by the economic effects of border closures and social distancing here. Thousands have already been laid off by the big resorts and restaurants and this just doesn’t feel right to us. We have already exhausted our finances keeping people on until May, and with no business bringing an income we really can’t continue on without your help. We are asking you to consider donating to our GoFundMe, these donations can serve as gift certificates for future stays at the hostel. These gift certificates have no expiration date and can be gifted to family and friends. With the support we receive from these contributions we hope that Tamana can sustain for a little longer, hopefully until tourism and travel begin again.
Our staff is what makes Tamana special and many of them have been with us since we opened in 2018. We are devastated by the turn of events that has occurred in the past few months, but we know what’s most important to us, and that will always be people. We need to take care of each other in times like these, so please help us take care of our staff.
All of the money raised on this platform will go directly to the Tamana staff’s salaries.
