Julie's Thailand Mission Trip

Hi my name is Julie Kim & I am a third year Speech Pathology student at University of Texas and I have been blessed with this life-giving opportunity to serve in Thailand with Adventures in Mission.
Since my freshman year in college, I have realized the Lord has given me a heart for people enslaved into human trafficking. The more I recognize the distressed realities of these people’s lives, I have grown in zeal for the movement to end human trafficking in the US and all around the world. This past Fall semester, the desire to go and serve for this cause grew exponentially. In John 15:16, Jesus tells us “you did not choose me, but I choose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit- fruit that will last.” This desire to go and bear lasting eternal fruits lead me to commit myself to a 8-week long mission trip this upcoming 2015 summer (June 1st - July 30th).

Here I am. Accepted, excited, nervously-giddy, and incredibly hopeful for what is to come. How blessed I am to be given this opportunity to actively take part in eternal Glories of God.

Thailand

Hidden beyond Thailand’s bountiful, breathtaking beaches is one of the saddest modern day truth: sex slavery. There are thousand of people, including children, enslaved to this broken industry. I am grateful for this opportunity to spread truth and freedom to those involved. My Team of about 15/20 women will be partnering with already active ministry in Patong, Thailand. We will work to embody their vision of reducing, restoring, and empowering women ensnared by the sex trade industry through the Grace and Love of Jesus Christ. As we enter the Red-light district, we will have the opportunity to reach out to women and men in different bars and we will also be engaged in prayer walks, worship, and intercession.

Why Thailand?

My emotions and feelings for Human Trafficking have always been full of passion. I look back and see how the Lord personally vivified my life these past couple months, and all my heart desires for is to give that sort of life-giving hope to others. I want Thailand to personally encounter this breath of Truth that quickens the Spirit and enlivens and brightens the depths of any hopelessness.  

This is just the beginning of my journey. I am crazy excited to see the marvelous things Jesus will do this summer.
