"Everyone's Worst Nightmare"

On Sunday night, Oct. 8, 2017, Sally & Dick Daniels were relaxing into a Hawaiian vacation. Sally had just received news that she has cancer and would need surgery. Dick has been battling cancer for the last few years. Back at their lovely home above Santa Rosa, CA, all the cats were sleeping peacefully. Sally has been a cat-lover all her life and has always had beautiful Shaded Silver Persians.
And then hell came roaring across the hills. The Tubbs Fire hit their house like lightning. The house and cars were totally destroyed, turned to ash in minutes. And Sally's beloved cats? Too horrible to imagine. Intense heat, searing flames. The cats were gone. Everything in the house was gone. After more than half a century of marriage, a lifetime of memories destroyed in minutes.
Going on vacation, trying to deal with the news of cancer, and then learning that your house and all your possessions and your beloved cats were all destroyed --
this is everyone's worst nightmare.
We are a group of Sally & Dick's friends who want to help them rebuild their lives as best they can.
The one ray of hope in all this -- one cat miraculously managed to escape the conflagration and was taken to U.C. Davis for expert veterinary care. "Midori" is making progress and will recover, but she has had extensive surgery. Sally is facing surgery. Sally and Dick are in the process of rebuilding their lives. They have nothing.
Sally & Dick's friends are hoping to bring enough money into their lives so that, little by little, they can regain some of what they lost. Obviously the need is immediate. Whenever I have told this story to anyone, their comment has always been, "This is everyone's worst nightmare." And it is. Please help us bring a few rays of sunshine into their lives. Thank you for anything you can give to help this wonderful couple who have been so crushed by fate.
