Rudy Samudio's Prosthetic Leg Fund

Donation protected
On December 12, my brother Rudy Samudio Jr. had a life changing experience; he had to get his leg amputated in an attempt to save his life after surgeons told us he had a 3% chance to make it through the night.

Rudy had a bacterial infection on his right leg that entered into his blood stream which developed into flesh eating bacteria. Rudy’s body was already in septic shock so his kidneys were no longer functioning and his liver was going bad. After two surgeries in attempt to save his right leg, the surgeons where ready to pull Rudy’s breathing machine and let nature take its course because the infection was “winning” and we would need a “miracle” for Rudy to make it through the night.  Two hours later another surgeon came to us and gave us the option to amputate his right leg above the knee in a last ditch effort to save his life but they warned us that such a surgery could cause Rudy to bleed from his ears, nose and mouth and end his life on the operating table.  We all agreed as a family to proceed with the operation because this was the last hope we had. After three long hours of waiting and praying for a miracle, the surgeon came out and told us that Rudy survived the operation but was still in a coma because the breathing machine and blood pressure medication was keeping him alive and his body was still fighting the infection.  The next day the surgeon told us that he believed we received our miracle because he could see that Rudy was still fighting for his life. Two weeks later his blood pressure medicine was stopped and his breathing machine was removed but being on the blood pressure medicine that long took its toll on Rudy’s other foot so now he runs the risk of losing his toes on the other foot. Only by the grace of God and all the prayers from family and friends was Rudy finally taken off of dialysis and transferred to a rehabilitation hospital on New Year’s Eve December 31, 2014.

My brother is a hardworking family man that worked two jobs for the past 11 years to make ends meet.  He was supporting a wife, four daughters and two grand kids but now that this unfortunate incident has occurred it will take months for him to recover. He worries about the mortgage and medical bills that are accumulating not to mention his new needs (prosthetic leg, wheel chair, ramps, grab bars….).  I love my brother and hate to see him or anyone else go through something as devastating as this. I created this fund in hopes of alleviating some of his stress so he can focus on his rehabilitation.  The proceeds of this fundraiser will be used to purchase a new prosthetic leg, help pay for the mounting medical bills and keep his mortgage current so he won’t lose what he worked so hard for all these years. Any amount is greatly appreciated and/or continued prayers that his other foot gets healed. Please spread the word through social media to help us meet this goal. God Bless You.
