Flood recovery for the Levee Family

Donation protected
We are starting this fund raising campaign to help our brother and sister-in-law, whose home was flooded this past week in Denham Springs. Josh and Christine Levee, along with their 2 children, Jourdan and Jude, were affected by the massive flooding in southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi areas.  Due to the high flood waters, all they have left are the personal belongings that each took in a duffle bag during evacuation, as well as the electronics in the home that were able to be stored high enough that the water did not reach them. In addition to the flood damage and loss, there is also a loss of income due to barriers to transportation, flooded businesses, etc

The flood waters have destroyed 40,000 homes and an equal number of businesses. 30,000 people were rescued and there have been 13 deaths, so far. 34 of Louisanna's 60 parishes have been declared distaster areas.

We understand that our family members are only a small part of the thousands that have been affected by this disaster. However, if you are feeling called to help and don't know how/where you can be effective with your support, we are offering an opportunity to help a specific family in need. Any donation, as small as $1, will be a blessing and greatly appreciated. The family would also be grateful for gift cards which can be used to replace clothing, shoes, furnishings, etc - please contact me at [email redacted] for information on how/where to send those items. Unfortunately, shipping large donations items is not an option at this time, due to mail restrictions and continued flood waters.

Below is an update from the family:
We lost about 80% of our "things." So we need everything really. Kids beds are destroyed. Bedroom sets destroyed. Our bucket of shoes flipped over and ruined. Electronic stuff was put high enough, but we all left with a duffle bag of personal items and that's what we have left. The water was just a bit higher than what we were able to get lifted, of course, but not as high as we had heard. So we were blessed. A foot more and then everything would be ruined. But now it's just countertops down. We tried to prepare but it came up so fast ... We love that everybody cares about us so much."

If you are unable to give, that is okay! We still appreciate your continued prayers for this family- and ALL of the families affected- as they rebuild their homes, lives, and cities in the coming days and months.
