<div>The Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a place where the wild things heal. For the past 22 years, the dedicated volunteers and staff of the centre have saved the lives of thousands of injured and orphaned wild animals and returned them safely to the wild.

<div>Our vision for the future is to continue that work and to create a strong community, centered around wildlife in need of our help.

<div>However, that future is uncertain. The centre needs to purchase the property where it is located. Built on the land at the home of co-founders, the late Dr. Helene Van Doninck and Murdo Messer, who donated the space to allow the CWRC to grow and thrive. Murdo is retiring from the CWRC and is selling the property to move on to the next chapter of his life.

<div>To achieve this we have initiated the “Where the Wild Things Heal - Securing Our Forever Home” GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds needed to secure the property and take the next leap in delivering on our mission

<div>Reaching our $250,000+ fundraising goal would allow us to purchase the property for CWRC including the house and land which is home to three of our buildings (the Nursery, the “Sophie Jam Bird House”, and the Songbird Enclosure). All funds raised in excess of $250,000 will be budgeted into our operational costs and animal care for 2024-2025 including but not limited to medications, food and husbandry, utilities, property taxes, insurance etc.

<div>If we reach $75,000 or 30% of our goal it would allow us time to explore alternative options such as finding a purchaser/patron to hold the property on our behalf or secure a mortgage for the remainder. It ensures that the animals currently in our care can complete their rehabilitation journey on the path to release in the wild.

<div>If we reach less than $75,000 then all funds raised will be directed to the immediate needs of our current patients in order to ensure that they can complete their rehabilitation journey. Unfortunately, without being able to secure the property we would have to close to new intakes and prepare to cease operations in 2024.
