On Sept. 14th, Baja Sur was hit with a category 4 Hurricane Odile. Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, and all surrounding areas were dealt a direct hit as the center of storm moved up the peninsula. This included, Todos Santos, Pueblo Magico, the location of our retirement property. The property was purchased in 2006, after selling our retail store, Leapin' Lizards Fun Store in Occidental, Sonoma County, California. Our retirement dream turned into a new challenge sure to put a tremendous stress
on our now small fixed income. We emptied what was left of Michael's retirement fund with hopes that it would be enough. It was just enough to replace the roof on the small one bedroom casita, but there were other structures that needed repair. The pop-up trailer's roof and the palapa roof over it were completely destroyed. As the trailer was used as our "guest" accommodations, our family or friends have lost visitation hopes.
The other structure that lost a roof was the garage. Although we were lucky enough to retain the small part directly over the car, the rest was severely damaged. Then there's the surrounding fence. Most of the fence got replaced by our neighbor that was on their side. We have about 50+ yards of fence on one side of the property that really needs immediate attention, for there are long periods of time when the property is unoccupied. This is but a partial list of damages, some have been repaired, others will have to wait. The sacrifice we made in California to keep our Baja home was to give up our home and move into a fifth wheel. We are prepared to offer to anyone who donates $100 + a two nights stay at our newly repaired casita ( bed and breakfast). Because we need to travel back and forth more frequently as our son has serious health problems, we feel the need to ask our friends for help.
