In memory of Albert H Tayo

In December mom was complaining of shortness of breathe, after a trip the ER the doctors needed to drain her lungs.  The next day we found ourselves taking a trip to a different hospital for an unexpected quadruple bypass open heart surgery. Family and friends near and far came to visit her. Dad was so worried about her getting no sleep and complaining of constant headaches. 

The day mom was discharged from the hospital we took dad to the ER, because the headaches were so severe he was vomitting in her hospital room. My heart broke as the doctor told me he was going to be admitted and that he had lesions and tumors on his brain.  In the days to follow the sad news continued.  Doctors diagnosed dad with Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has spread.  Radiation is taking a toll on all of us as we are watching dads health decline and chemo is not likely an option.  Mom is worried about dad as she is recovering from heart surgery.

The worry and depression on top of trying to recover landed mom back in the ER and readmitted into the hospital with mild kidney failure and her diabetes out of control. Mom is being sent to a skilled nursing facility to recover, recoup and get some physical therapy to get strong.

Family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and even strangers have been very supportive. Amazing people are coming together going above and beyond for all of us.  It's hard to ask for help when so many have already done so much.  Mom and Dad do not have the best insurance and medical expenses are coming out of pockets that are not very deep. My niece offered $40 from her piggy bank after overhearing us discuss how to pay for medicine not currently covered. Meds are all due for refills for both parents. We aren't sure what to expect in the upcoming weeks or months but we do know that we need  help.
