Chris' kidney transplant

Donation protected
In 2012 Chris had been through 2 surgeries on his wrist due to a rare disease called Kienbocks diesease which caused the bones in his wrist to die. They had always been concerned about his blood pressure when he went in for surgeries but they just continued to try different medicines to lower it. Finally in 2013 the doctors suggested they do a blood test to see if they could find anything that could explain the uncontrolable blood pressure. They found his creatinine levels to be elevevated correlating to 83% kidney function. Chris went for a kidney biopsy and was found to have IgA nephropathy. They tried steriod shots for 6 months that did not seem to prevent the attack of the kidneys. In June of 2014 the day before his dads wedding Chris went to the eye doctor complaining of blurry vision and he was told to leave and drive himself to the emergency room because he had busted blood vessels in his eyes and his blood pressure was 187/164. At the emergency room they did blood work and came back about 45 minutes later and said Chris was being admitted to the hospital and a kidney specialist was being contacted because his creatinine levels correlated to about 22% kidney function. The kidney specialist decided too much damage had been done to the kidneys for chemotherapy and Chris needed to get on the fast track to transplant. Chris' creatinine levels continued to exponentially increase and was sent to have surgery to create a fistula (port for dialysis). Although, they wanted to avoid dialysis if at all possible. Cody, Chris' 19 year old brother is a Marine and was stationed in Japan. Cody was unable to be approved for transplant until tested at Duke. We were able to contact the red cross and get him sent home early. Cody has been approved as a 100% match for Chris and transplant surgery is scheduled for February 16th. Chris is currently 24 years old. He is an Automotive technician and is expected to be out of work for 3-4 months after the surgery.  In addition to the Crochet 4 Chris fundraiser Chris' girlfriend Alisha is working on we would greatly appreciate any donations to get Chris through those 3-4 months and possibly come out on top of all of the medical expenses that have piled up over the years. Thank you so much for all of your support and please follow facebook.com/crochet4chris for updates on Chris and Cody!
