Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,

I am elated to tell you about this new opportunity that will be available for me this summer. I was recently accepted to particpate in a research program in Beijing, China!!!!!! While there, I will be doing research on demography, global aging, and social policy.

The first two weeks of the program will be held
on Georgia State University's campus to provide us with background knowledge regarding issues of
demography, global aging, and social policies in
the contexts of the U.S., and Chinese cultures
and societies.  W
e will read and discuss comparatively about work and retirement, pensions and social insurance, social services and long term care in both China and the U.S. Powerpoint presentations of site visits in Atlanta will be presented at the end of the two-week class, and will be shared with Chinese students in Beijing and Xian.

In the third week, we will visit Beijing and Xian.  In each city, we will participate in roundtable discussions with graduate students in China exchanging ideas about aging, social policies, and the relationship between culture and social policies.  We will also visit aging services and cultural sites in Beijing and Xian.

For the past few years, I have taught social studies and math at the most amazing private school in the city, Imhotep Academy.  In 2014, I maintained an internship with the Office of the Ombudsperson Department at Georgia State University and helped plan, organize and host the annual 2014 Conflict Resolution Symposium.
All of this was done while running and maintaining Operation H.E.L.P, a community organization encompassing many initiatives, including: black history education, collective  empowerment, and community service.

As you can see, I have been busy building my resume, and this research program would be a great opportunity to expand my global understanding of sociology and develop ideas for my personal research.  Be apart of this journey by donating to this campaign.  Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated.  All proceeds will go to the finances necessary to make this study abroad trip succesful.  Thank your for your donation and I will continue to keep you updated on the success of the program.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Grant
