Help Brenda Fight Breast Cancer

On August 26th, 2017 Brenda went in for a mammogram after noticing a hard lump in her breast and a knot under her arm pit. After going through the holiday weekend anxiously waiting for the results, she got the news she wasn’t prepared for. On September 5th, the doctor told her she had Ductal Carcinoma in situ (Breast Cancer) in her left breast and cancer in her lymph node. We were all in shock, wondering how this could be happening to a 45-year-old healthy woman who never gets sick. She immediately was scheduled to have another biopsy for her right breast to make sure it had not spread. On September 15th, she met with the oncologist who then diagnosed her with stage 3 cancer. The doctor is optimistic that the cancer is treatable but will be a long road of chemotherapy and other types of treatments. The statistics are very good for a full recovery.
Brenda has been very strong and optimistic through this all. She knows all too well the road she must endure since her mother passed away on November 26, 2016 of breast cancer. Throughout all this Brenda remains positive knowing that with faith and the love of all her friends and family she is going to beat this. This is just a bump in the road and I know in my heart she is going to be okay. She will need everyone’s prayers and support during this journey.
She has met with a nutritionist and looking at all her options. She will also need to meet with several doctors to discuss future treatment plans.
Brenda has just started a new job and has medical, but with a large deductible and copay. She will be going through Chemo for at least 6 months and will continue with other types of treatments afterwards. Along with the treatments there will be missed time from work and of course the days of being sick from all the chemo. This will add a strain and hardship on her with no other source of income.
So, all the contributions will be going directly to pay her medical deductibles, copays, medication, and time loss from work. As we do not know the full financial impact of all her treatments, we may set up another fundraiser in the future. Every little bit helps.
Anyone that knows Brenda realizes what an incredible person and friend she is to so many. She lives life to the fullest and doesn't take anything for granted. I have known Brenda for over 4 years and not only do I consider her one of my best friends, but also family. This is not a battle I will let her fight alone. I know with the constant prayers, love and support from all her family and friends she will win this fight.
