Help Sean
Donation protected
Hi,
I'm trying to raise funds for a friend of mine who has hit hard times.
His name is Sean and he is one of those annoying types who everyone likes. He normally smiles a lot more than this photo suggests but it was taken a few years ago and I think he was trying to come across as mean and moody, which is not his style!
Sean was a dedicated and popular Police Officer, working the beat but ended up in a Specialist Department guarding some very high profile Politicians and other notaries. It was during this time that he was involved in an armed incident which triggered his PTSD. Unfortunately the Police in those days did not look after their staff with PTSD the way they do now, as it is a more recognised illness. Due to this, Sean suffered more and more and eventually, left the Police after serving for 12 years having received no help at all.
As you can see, he plays the guitar, and very well too. After leaving the Police, he turned to music to sustain himself and for a number of years he has earned a living as a musician.
More recently though after a minor fall out with family, he has suddenly found himself out on the streets and sleeping rough. He would hate me for saying it but he is too gentle a character for life on the streets. Although, having said that, he is a bit of a charmer and the bench that he recently occupied had a number of carrier bags with donations from very kind members of the community...which is much appreciated.
I have set an intial target of £1,000 but to be honest, I would really like to see if we could raise more for Sean to properly get him back on his feet and in a position where he can earn a living and support himself once more. All of the money raised will go directly to Sean. Initially money raised will go towards the very basics. Food, drink and accommodation. We are busy trying to arrange some suitable local authority housing for him but we have been told that he is very low on the Council's housing list...single, male, no kids. After this we are making sure he gets treatment for his PTSD and are making in-roads with PTSD999 so that he can manage the trauma suffered since the armed incident that set him back so badly.
The money raised will mean so much to Sean and already, he says that he feels overwhelmed by the support that his friends, former colleagues & members of the community have shown him. Money raised for Sean will give him back his self respect and dignity. He was once in a role where he looked after people, caring for them and proudly wearing a Police Uniform whilst he did it. We, his friends would love to see Sean back to his best and simply living the life that he deserves, after giving so much himself.
With any donation that you can give, it will all go to Sean and literally give him back his life.
Thank you so much in advance.
