From China With Love

For those new to our story, here's a brief summary. Ben & I have been blessed with three amazing daughters. Our middle child, Reese, has Down syndrome & has been the inspiration behind our adoption of another little girl with Down syndrome from China. Ying Jie just turned three and has spent her entire life in an orphanage with no family of her own. She was abandoned shortly after birth & spends the majority of her days in a crib with very little stimulation. She is not valued - she is not loved - and it breaks my heart into pieces. We have been frantically jumping through the requisite adoption hoops & are getting so close to bringing our daughter home where she will be forever adored.

Here's the deal. International adoptions are expensive, ridiculously expensive. Our adoption fees alone are ~$35,000 & that figure does not include lost wages during our travel/bonding time or the medical expenses that will be incurred once Ying Jie is home.

We need your help. As much as I hate asking for it, we need it. Countless friends/family have already asked how to donate & we finally have an answer.

A NAME REVEAL!! Yes, Ying Jie has a new name, a name that has been specifically & carefully chosen for her. It's a little bit American, a little bit Chinese & a whole lotta special. It's a perfect name for a perfect girl & we can't wait to share it.

A jigsaw puzzle of her name has been created. We are selling pieces to that puzzle & once the pieces have been sold, we will announce her new name. No more mispronouncing & misspelling Ying Jie!!

When you donate, your name will be written on the back of one puzzle piece. Once the puzzle is complete, it will be bonded & mounted in glass. One side will display her name in both English & Chinese - the other side will contain the names of the hundreds of people responsible for bringing her home. Years from now we will recite those names to her & she will know how many people rallied to rescue her.

Here's the twist. The maximum donation is $25. I'm stealing this idea from my favorite blogger, Glennon Melton, and in her words, "We can’t do great things. We can only do small things with great love. And so no one is allowed to donate more than $25. EVERY DONATION MATTERS."

Yes, friends. Every donation matters. Whether it be 25 cents or 25 dollars, we appreciate anything you can do to help. Let's go get her!!
