Lisa's Medical Expenses

Lisa is a 3- time breast cancer survivor.  She had a double mastectomy and full reconstructive surgery on December 19, 2017.  Recovery was going well, but she has hit a small bump in the road.  She has been admitted into Medical City Dallas Hospital on January 1, 2018 as a result of a low grade fever (possible infection) and one of her drains in her abdomen is still showing an excessive amount of blood.

Lisa is self employed.  Her December 2017 Surgery was covered under her medical insurance for 2017 and her follow up doctor appointments in the office would have been covered under the same plan.  

Unfortunately, now that she has been admitted to the hospital in 2018, she will face another $7,500 deductible and incidental medical costs related to the hospital visit.  Even though she and Tim are planning to marry in April and Lisa will be placed on Tim's insurance coverage after their wedding, they will be still be responsible for the costs up to that date.
