Support Sofia's Journey to Recovery

Sofia is a 6 year-old who was born with spinal bifida, which is a birth defect where her spine was not formed correctly. On February 12th, 2025, Sofia suffered acute respiratory failure and was admitted to Valley Children’s Hospital. She stayed there until she needed a higher level of care on March 7th and transferred to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital where she continues to receive intensive medical care to this today. We are praying that she will not permanently need a tracheostomy or ventilator.

Sofia has an amazing character. She enjoys music, likes to make jokes, she loves painting and enjoys singing, she loves doing puzzle's, she loves spending time playing with her Barbie toys.Sofia loves her family. She simply adores her brothers, who are the world to her. She also loves school. Mentally Sofia is advanced in her school studies however she was recently dropped from K-12 online school due to her absents. She is extremely positive and has a strong will to live. Sofia has stated many times, “I don’t want to die.”

We started this GoFundMe campaign to help cover for medical bills, rent, and other expenses during this challenging time. Sofia will need round-the-clock care, which will require her mother to stop working so that she can be Sofia’s caregiver. This will be a great financial sacrifice for us, and we will need support while we try to make adjustments towards quality living for Sofia and our family as a whole.
