Juventud del Maǹana (youth of tomorrow)

Vilcabamba is a small village in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador.
This area has very high unemployment .....and the few jobs there are consists of part time manual labour.
Drug and alcohol abuse and teen pregnancy is a serious problem.
Our young people can see no future other than what they learn from their parents.
They see the future as hopeless.
We want to change this!
We are opening a teen drop-in centre.
It's called Juventud Del Maǹana (Teens for Tomorrow).
We have the rooms supplied by the municipality of Loja....thank goodness.
They have provided it free to us including light and water.
The government of Loja are supporting us by doing this. I

We are an association, with a Board of Directors, and have just received our non-profit status.
We have started renovations...all done by volunteers.
But, we need help!!!
We need your support.
We've put on local fund raising events, but this is a very poor community.
We hope, with you're help, to reach our goal of $10,000.00.
This is a partial list of our needs:
We need to hire someone to work with the teens at the centre during opening hours.
Hours planned are: Monday to Friday 4pm to 10pm, and weekends 2pm to 10pm.
We also need immediately:
6 computers (or laptops). (We hope to have free WiFi so the students can do the research they need for school projects.)
We need a router for WiFi.
A printer
Paper, pencils, etc
First Aid Kit
6 tables and 24 chairs.
Photography cameras and equipment
Dishes and cutlery.
Hot plate
Small set of cookware
Musical and video recording equipment
Games such as checkers, dominos..etc.
Sports equipment

Our goal is provide a safe, drug and alcohol free place where these teenagers can come to practice their music, art, photograph...etc.
We will to offer career counselling,
work experience, small business counselling, training in such things as 1st aid, tourism, etc.
Our goal is to provide a safe and fostering place where we can provide the tools to build self esteem, and show that, even in an area of high unemployment, there are ways to overcome obstacles and build a future..
In doing this, we hope to lower the serious substance abuse and replace it with hope in our community.
We hope to give our young people the tools needed to guide our youth into a future of hope, not one of despair.
Anyone who will help us achieve this with donations of any size will be most gratefully received.
We would like to offer you updates on our progress as our heartfelt Thank you
