Justin's fight against B-cell Burkitt Lymphoma

Hi, my name is Ashley, and I'm fundraising to support my nephew JJ (Justin) fight against B-cell Burkitt Lymphoma. JJ is a sweet, witty and precocious 8- year old boy who loves to sing, hit cartwheels and do crafts. It was completely unexpected that my sister Brennae's world would be rocked this July when she received the news that her son was diagnosed with stage three B-cell Burkitt Lymphoma.

Brennae had noticed a change in JJ's activity level, appetite, and belly size, which prompted her to seek medical care for him. After about a week of observations and trips to urgent care, the ER, his pediatrician and back to the ER, she finally had an answer. Following a 19-day inpatient stay, spinal taps, bone marrow biopsies, blood tests, chemotherapy and nephrostomy tube placement, JJ was cleared to return home.

Learning that your child has cancer is one of the most devasting life events that can happen to a mother. Fortunately, with advances in modern medicine, JJ is expected to recover and live a long, happy life after many treatments. JJ remains in good spirits and has set his ambitions on starting a self-care business for sick children.

Although JJ is expected to recover fully, the road ahead comes with many challenges. For the next six months, JJ will receive both inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy and cannot return to school until 2023. Caring for a child with cancer is a huge transition for my sister, and many people have asked how they can help. By donating, you can help relieve some of the financial pressure she will face during this fight.
