Justin's Heart Fund

Donation protected
In 2005, Justin Hoyland was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia one week before he turned 22. To beat it, he participated in an experimental chemotherapy treatment with a high fatality rate. Nearly everyone else in the chemotherapy trial passed away, but Justin survived! Unfortunately, the side effects of the treatment were dire.

In 2011, Justin discovered that his heart was functioning at 40% after an intense bout with pneumonia. Since that time it's continued to drop. Currently, Justin's heart is functioning at 25%, and normally the only viable option is a heart transplant. Viable hearts can take a long time to obtain and have a high failure rate.

An experimental treatment for Justin's cardiomyopathy exists: http://carolinastemcell.com/ . This treatment utilizes stem cells from the patient's own abdominal fat to treat heart conditions. They've had some success with cardiomyopathy patients, and while the treatment isn't guaranteed to work, it's the only other option. Unfortunately this is not covered by insurance.

In spite of all the difficulties Justin has faced, he's remained relentlessly positive, resilient, and confident. Please help by donating or sharing this post on social media. Thank you!
