It is never easy to admit when you are in need of some help. But, we do not get to pick and choose our tough battles. As most of you know, my brother, Justin Brown, is going through a debilitating health challenge. After months of watching his quality of life slowly deteriorate with no answers, countless hospital visits, doctors, and specialists, he finally found some relief when receiving a diagnoses of Acute Autonomic and Sensory Neuropathy with Parkinson’s Onset. This occurs when the nerves that control involuntary bodily functions, such as blood pressure, digestion, vision, breathing, etc are damaged. The hope is, a cure is a series of blood infusions, that he needs 5 rounds of that we just found out are not being covered by his insurance provider and are very expensive. My brother needs this treatment. Time is of the essence as his body is attacking his nerves and without treatment he will suffer permanent nerve damage. After he is well enough, he will then need cervical neck surgery to repair herniated discs causing spinal cord compression, just adding to the physical pain he is in.
He is the last person who wants to be bedridden at my parents house in New Jersey when his life is back in Florida, working and spending time with his friends. The financial hardship that my family have endured through the past few months have been unexpected and stressful. So many people have reached out asking to help however they can so I wanted to set up this page. Please, also know that any words of encouragement or positive vibes go a long way for someone who is alone in bed all day long too!
