Justin Fernandes-Pedra Funeral Fund

Donation protected
Aventura Moms has created this page to help the Fernandes-Pedra family who has experienced a tremendous loss last week in Aventura, Florida. We are raising this money to help the family who had no travel insurance and would like to bring Justin back to Aruba for a proper burial where his family is.

Justin Fernandes-Pedra an 8 year old boy full of life was visiting from Aruba his mother with his younger brother and father.  They had just arrived and were getting ready to go to Disney World for the weekend. As the parents were getting ready, Justing and his brother started playing hide and seek. They were able to access the roof top located on the 12th floor of the building property where his mother lived through an unlocked property door. That is when the tragedy happened.

Adjacent to the condo is the Aventura Peace Park which has a covered playground. Justin looking down from the roof thought it was a mega huge trampoline (see picture) and decided to jump ready to show off for his 6 year old brother who watched. Unfortunately this was no trampoline and the jump was fatal.

A police officer (Our Aventura Hero) assigned to ACES charter elementary school right across the street arrived within minutes and began CPR as well as other arriving officers on the scene. Justin was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

He died feeling no pain, but left behind a devastated family & community.

Even-though, we cannot bring Justin back, we can help his family through this tremendous tragedy and facilitate the proper travel and burial in Aruba where his family is.

Let's all give generously to this most important cause and spread the word to all we know. Please all share the link of this campaign on your Facebook pages and any other social media. For all cheques and larger donations please contact Esther Bensusan directly at [email redacted]

This campaign has been started with the approval of the family and 100% of all funds will go directly to the family to help cope with the financial burden this will be for them. As parents we know that the loss of a child is our biggest fear and we can understand that all this family wants to do right now is be able to mourn the loss of their angel. We as a community can come together the same way we always do and help them financially so they have one less thing to worry about. Any excess funds will be used to create a foundation in Justin's honor and be used to create awareness.

Thanks so much and God bless everyone.
