Justin Buchanan And Family Leukemia Fund

Donation protected

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020 Justin decided to go to the ER after 3 months of urgent care visits for what Justin was told was strep throat with no relief, dentist visits for swollen sore gums that he was told just needed to be cleaned with still no relief. Halifax Hospital diagnosed him with leukemia based on blood work done in the ER. He received a bone marrow biopsy on the following day, that will tell us exactly what type of leukemia he has. We are still waiting on test results but in the meantime the hospital has not stopped working to get him admitted into Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Through talking to oncology doctors I was told that he may not be excepted for treatment through Shands. This was very devastating considering the treatment he would receive there would be the best treatment and would have a possible CURE as opposed to being in remission. The doctor told me that Justin will need to do chemotherapy treatments and a bone marrow transplant. The doctor told me Justin should expect that he will be unable to work for about 8 months but we will know more when the results are back. All of these treatments are astronomically expensive along with his personal bills and child on the way but there is not a dollar amount you could put on this mans life. Many of our close friends have reached out to us asking how they can help us and I hate to say it but the only thing right now is either a quick miracle or money to pay our bills in this time. Justin will be allowed one visitor for his entire stay at Shands Hospitaland he has asked that I be there with him.

On December 22 of this year Justin will be 3 years clean of drugs and alcohol. He’s come a long way over these years. This leukemia is a major speed bump for Justin as he has really turned things around for the better. We are expecting a baby boy in April.  During my pregnancy Justin has been more than a great partner. He makes me smoothies and breakfast every morning.  He makes it a point to make me feel like the most important person in this world and takes our child’s and my health very seriously. So much so that he’s been worried he won’t be around to help us. That being said, these donations will go towards paying our bills that we have to cover while he’s in treatment to take the stress off of him, fighting leukemia and me, carrying his child while trying to make sure he is comfortable and doesn’t feel alone as much as possible during this time. We will have many hospital bills after this but at this time we are worried about staying afloat and keeping the house we just moved into for our little family. I will provide updates as I get them. It’s looking like Justin will be transferred to Gainesville sometime in the next few days. The best news possible. ❤️ I know these times are tough for everyone but anything you can give will help us. Thank you all for your love and kind words we appreciate everything.
