<div>El 18 de abril, una fecha ya de luto para los nicaragüenses, volvió a teñirse de tragedia. Ese día, en 2025, Bryan Rogelio Cruz Calderón fue encontrado sin vida en su apartamento en San Francisco, California.
</div>
<div>Por increíble que parezca, no era la primera vez que moría. Durante su encarcelamiento en Nicaragua, Bryan fue dado por muerto y llevado a la morgue. Pero, como un Lázaro moderno, volvió a respirar, a levantarse, y a seguir luchando. Lo hizo con un cuerpo marcado por la tortura y un alma herida, pero también con una sonrisa que nunca se apagó.

<div>A sus 37 años, Bryan era uno de los 222 presos políticos nicaragüenses desterrados por la dictadura de Ortega-Murillo. Sobreviviente de tortura, violencia sexual y años de encierro injusto, logró llegar a Estados Unidos en busca de refugio.

<div>Pese a todo lo vivido, su carisma, risa constante y nobleza no dejaban entrever el calvario que cargaba. En sus ojos había luz… pero también sombras. Porque aunque escapó físicamente de sus verdugos, los demonios del trauma lo acompañaron hasta el final.

<div>️ Su vida en el exilio
</div>
<div>En California, Bryan intentó rehacer su vida. Fue parte activa de la comunidad nicaragüense en el exilio: apoyaba, participaba, se dejaba querer. Sin embargo, la ciudad le quedó grande. San Francisco, con su bullicio, sus barreras idiomáticas y su frialdad burocrática, no supo —ni quiso— protegerlo.

<div>Vivía sin nacionalidad, sin papeles, sin una red familiar cercana. Tenía muchos amigos que lo querían, pero estaba solo frente a un sistema que lo dejó caer. Hoy, su madre, doña Esperanza, clama desde Nicaragua por una foto de su hijo, por una señal, por justicia.

<div>¿Para qué es esta campaña?
</div>
<div>Hoy, el cuerpo de Bryan sigue en la morgue. Sin país, sin identidad legal, sin alguien que oficialmente pudiera reclamarlo... hasta ahora.
</div>
<div>Con la autorización de su madre, sus amigos y comunidad en el exilio hemos asumido esa responsabilidad, con el corazón roto pero con la convicción de darle la despedida que merece.
</div>
<div>Desde la comunidad nicaragüense en el Área de la Bahía de San Francisco, lanzamos esta campaña con tres propósitos:

<div>A Modern-Day Lazarus Who Deserves Peace
</div>
<div>On April 18, 2025—a date already steeped in sorrow for Nicaraguans—Bryan Rogelio Cruz Calderón was found dead in his apartment in San Francisco, California.
</div>
<div>Unbelievably, this was not the first time he had died. While imprisoned in Nicaragua, Bryan was once declared dead and sent to the morgue—only to miraculously breathe again. Like a modern-day Lazarus, he rose, bearing a tortured body and a wounded soul, but always carrying a radiant smile.
</div>
<div>At 37 years old, Bryan was one of the 222 political prisoners exiled by the Ortega-Murillo regime. A survivor of brutal torture, sexual violence, and unjust imprisonment, he managed to reach the U.S. in search of safety.
</div>
<div>Despite his past, his charisma, ever-present smile, and warmth never revealed the depth of the suffering he endured. His eyes carried both light and shadows. He escaped his captors, but the demons of trauma followed him until the end.

<div>Life in Exile
</div>
<div>In California, Bryan tried to rebuild his life. He was an active part of the Nicaraguan exile community—he supported others, participated in events, and was beloved by many.
</div>
<div>But San Francisco proved too overwhelming. The city’s chaos, language barriers, and bureaucratic coldness failed to shelter him. Bryan lived without a nationality, without legal status, and without close family nearby. Though surrounded by friends, he was alone in a system that let him fall.
</div>
<div>Today, his mother, Doña Esperanza, is still in Nicaragua, pleading for a photo of her son, seeking answers, seeking justice.
</div>

<div>What is this campaign for?
</div>
<div>Bryan’s body remains in the morgue. Without a country, without legal identity, and no one who could officially claim him... until now.
</div>
<div>With his mother’s permission, we—his friends and fellow exiles—have taken on the responsibility of giving him a dignified farewell.
</div>
<div>This campaign seeks to:
