<div>On June 3rd, Arnaldo attended his scheduled court date. After his case was dismissed, ICE officers were waiting outside the building and detained him immediately. He was transferred to the Miramar detention center. The following day, he was sent to Broward County, and on Sunday, June 8, he was transferred again without notice or explanation—just as he had a scheduled family visit and his lawyer had already formally appeared. No information was provided for nearly 24 hours, until it was finally confirmed that he had been taken to Mississippi.

<div>Since Arnaldo arrived in this country over three years ago, fleeing dictatorship and seeking a better future, he has not come here to "take advantage of the system," as is often said about immigrants. Arnaldo studied and graduated as a refrigeration and electrical technician, a profession he was actively practicing. He has not committed any crime; he has remained honest, hardworking, and committed to this country from the moment he arrived. He has also fulfilled all his fiscal and legal obligations, including paying his taxes on time every year.

<div>This is an urgent situation. We are deeply concerned about his well-being and the risk that he will not have access to a fair legal defense due to constant transfers and a lack of communication from the authorities. Every time he is moved, neither his attorney nor his family is informed, creating a constant state of uncertainty. Furthermore, with each transfer to a different state, the legal jurisdiction changes, requiring his legal team to redo paperwork, adapt documentation, or even resubmit everything from the beginning.

Al salir, tras haberle sido desestimado el caso, oficiales de ICE lo estaban esperando fuera del edificio y fue detenido de inmediato. Fue trasladado al centro de detención de Miramar. Al día siguiente, lo enviaron al condado de Broward y, el domingo 8 de junio, fue nuevamente trasladado sin previo aviso ni explicación, justo cuando tenía agendada una visita familiar y su abogado ya se había presentado formalmente. No se brindó ninguna información durante casi 24 horas, hasta que finalmente se notificó que había sido llevado a Mississippi.

<div>Desde que Arnaldo llegó a este país, buscando una mejoría y huyendo de la dictadura hace más de tres años, no vino aquí a jugar ni a vivir del gobierno, como suelen decir de los inmigrantes. Arnaldo comenzó y se graduó como técnico electricista en refrigeración, profesión que estaba ejerciendo activamente. No ha cometido ningún delito; se ha mantenido honesto, trabajador y comprometido con este país desde su llegada. Además, ha cumplido con todas sus obligaciones fiscales y legales, incluyendo el pago puntual de sus impuestos cada año.

Nos preocupa profundamente su bienestar y el riesgo de que no tenga acceso a una defensa legal justa debido a los constantes traslados y a la falta de comunicación por parte de las autoridades. Además, con cada traslado a un estado distinto, cambian también las jurisdicciones legales, lo que obliga a su equipo legal a rehacer papeleo, adaptar documentos o incluso presentar todo nuevamente desde cero.
