On December 23, 2017, my 17-year-old brother Ulysses “Fat Daddy” Wilkerson was brutally beaten while handcuffed and in the custody of Troy Police Officers. At the hands of the police, My brother sustained severe damage to his left eye that requires upcoming surgery. Ulysses had to be rushed to the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. My mother had to rearrange her work schedule which caused her to decrease her work hours to stay home with my brother , take him to the doctor and traveling to Troy, Al seeking justice for my brother and family . My brother and family are encountering medical bills, doctor visits, lawyer fees and traveling expenses back and forth from Decatur, Al where we live to Troy,Al and also to Birmingham, Al. My family needs help to ensure justice is served, and to prevent this cruel treatment from occurring to any other child. No child should endure this type of abuse from individuals who are supposed to be protecting them. My brother is loved by many in Troy, Al.
