Together with Aisling Waldron in New Zealand, we’ve found ourselves leading a group of former CyberSmarties Ltd staff, contractors and franchise partners from Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India, Turkey and South Africa who are pursuing accountability through the Irish legal system after contracts we entered into were not honoured.

<div>CyberSmarties Ltd is an Irish company that promoted itself as a fully safe online social media platform for primary school children. Its website stated that it protected more than one million school children across multiple countries and described itself as working in partnership with UNICEF and An Garda Síochána.

<div>We became involved because we believed in that mission. Each of us committed our time, skills and, in many cases, our own savings to helping build what we believed was a platform that would make the online world safer for children.

<div>We signed employment, contractor or franchise agreements governed by Irish law. We carried out the work we promised to do. We expected those agreements would be honoured.

<div>Instead, we remain unpaid. Some invested significant sums of money that have never been returned. Collectively, we estimate that approximately €500,000 remains owed to members of our group.

<div>The financial consequences have been devastating. People emptied savings accounts built over many years. Some borrowed money believing their contracted wages or promised investment returns would be paid. Today, many continue to carry significant credit card debt, loans, unpaid bills and lasting financial insecurity.

<div><strong>The impact has extended far beyond money. It has placed enormous pressure on families, relationships and mental wellbeing, and left many trying to rebuild lives that were turned upside down.</strong>

<div>Since speaking publicly, our story has been reported by both the New Zealand Herald and the Irish Mail on Sunday. We have also sought formal investigations by the relevant Irish authorities into matters concerning the company and its operations. Our group has assembled more than 700 pages of documentary evidence and invested thousands of hours preparing material in support of our case.

<div>This GoFundMe campaign has one purpose: to help fund legal action in Ireland for those members of the group who are continuing to pursue accountability through the Irish legal system. Not everyone affected has chosen, or is able, to participate in that legal action. We respect those decisions completely. Their experiences remain part of this story because they reflect the wider human impact of what occurred.

<div>Every dollar donated will be used exclusively for legal representation and associated case expenses in Ireland. No donations will be used for personal living expenses. If any funds remain after the legal proceedings have concluded and all related costs have been met, every cent of the surplus will be donated to a legal fund supporting whistleblowers and others pursuing accountability through lawful means.

<div>This campaign is about much more than the money we've lost. It asks a broader question:<em> should access to justice depend on whether ordinary people can afford it?</em>

<div><strong>If the cost of pursuing accountability places the legal system beyond the reach of everyday people, many legitimate claims will never be tested. We refuse to accept that outcome.</strong>
