Justice Has No Age Limit: Join My Law School Journey!

Donation protected
Hi, I’m LaToya, and I’m going to law school at 47.

This is the boldest leap I’ve ever taken.

After over 20 years of leadership in education, government, nonprofit, and finance, I’ve decided to follow a lifelong calling to pursue justice, advocacy, and generational change. I’m stepping away from full-time work to become a full-time law student in Fall 2025—and I’ll graduate with my JD in 2028.

This isn’t just about a career shift. It’s about disrupting generational narratives and walking fully into a purpose that’s been whispering to me for years.

Why I’m Asking for Your Support

I’ve always been the one people call when they need strategy, support, or someone to believe in them. But now, I’m calling on my sister circle, and beyond, to believe in me.

I’m inviting you to be part of this next chapter. I’m launching the #28for2028 campaign, asking at least 100 people to donate $28 or a multiple of $28 to support my transition into law school.

Your gift will help cover my living expenses, books, and the basic costs of making this bold pivot, so I can focus fully on succeeding, thriving, and showing up as my whole self.

Why This Matters

There are not enough stories of Black women in their 40s starting law school, especially women like me who are daughters, mothers, wives, caregivers, and community advocates. But I believe in rewriting that narrative. I want the world to see what it looks like when Black women choose themselves and pursue purpose unapologetically.

I also want this journey to be joyful, not just sleepless nights and case law.

So I’m committing to documenting my law school experience as a way to inspire, reflect, and stay rooted in the “why.” I want you all, my tribe, to come with me on this ride.

If you’ve ever:

  • Wanted to go back to school but didn’t

  • Cheered for someone else’s comeback story

  • Believed in the power of sisterhood and community

Then this campaign is for you, too.

How You Can Help:

1. Donate $28 (or $56, $112, $280—whatever your heart leads).

2. Share this with your network using the hashtag #28for2028.

3. Follow my journey. I’ll be sharing my wins, worries, and everything in between.

This isn't just law school. This is legacy work.

Thank you for pouring into me the way I’ve poured into so many others.

With deep gratitude,
