Justice for Yasmine McDonald's Straw Assault

Donation protected
Yasmine James, 20, was brutally attacked on December 31, 2018 at McDonald's, where she is currently employed. Yasmine began working at McDonald's to save up for college as she aspires to become a registered nurse.

Daniel Taylor, a customer, physically attacked Yasmine after she calmly explained the new, "no straws in the lobby" policy, where the restaurant only gives straws upon request. Taylor, unhappy with the policy proceeded to berate Yasmine calling her vulgar names and threatening physical harm. Yasmine's attempts to de-escalate the situation were met with violence as Taylor violently grabbed Yasmine by her shirt and pulled her across the counter. Yasmine was left to defend herself, as no one immediately stepped in to help.

Due to the outpouring of support, Yasmine's‚ mother, Sherrie Kelly has set up this official GoFundme account. This is the only official account for Yasmine. All donations will be used for Yasmine's medical and educational needs. No part of these funds will be used against legal fees. Yasmine wants everyone to know‚ "I am extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from all around the country. For me, this was the last straw. I am committed to using the horrible experience as means to fight for justice and stopping violence against women."
