Justice for Woman Wronged - Fighting False Charges!

My name is Loraine Marshall, I'm fundraising to help cover legal expenses. I’m a self-published author, podcaster and digital creator. I started learning these new skills while living under the threat of being evicted from the Spanish retirement home that a former partner had promised to share with me 50/50. It all started in September 2020 after he had abruptly terminated our relationship after 11 years together. I remember telling the former partner on the 27th of August 2020, the night he ended our relationship that I was going to write my story. I didn’t start that book until April 2021 and self-published it in May 2022 just a couple of weeks before I was in the Civil Court for the verbal hearing brought by the former partner who was now taking legal action to evict me under the laws of “precarious eviction” in Spain.

I have started this fundraiser to help me cover the legal expenses of the Criminal lawyer in a second litigation brought against me. I didn’t trust the public-appointed free legal representation after two previous experiences. One where I was provided with a free public lawyer for my complaint in the Courts for Violence Against Women October 2020 and January 2021, and the second was as the defendant in the Civil Court for the verbal hearing in June 2022. My first self-published book raises awareness of the gaps in the laws that often fail women, based on my experience. In October 2022 I had two Guardia Civil officers turn up at the property I was hand-delivered an appointment to collect documents of what they referred to as “several minor misdemeanours” that the former partner had made against me. I was shocked when I translated those documents and read the allegations against me and the requested penalties from the opposing lawyer. A cumulative total of 17 years of prison was requested. You can see how they appeared in the document from the image below.

The preliminary hearing was not until September 2023, by December 2023 five of the allegations were dismissed by the Judge, and two remain with the court. The stress of the “precarious eviction” and the “criminal allegations” have caused huge trauma on top of the grief I experienced at the termination of the relationship. I have not been able to fully focus on earning a stable income although I have learned a lot of new skills, I have survived post-separation it has not been easy. I am appealing for funds to help me pay the legal fees involved in my criminal defence and also as a plaintiff in a separate litigation I was advised to bring to court. See the breakdown below.

When I self-published my post-separation experience and the background of the relationship I had no idea that the former partner had been surveilling all of my social profiles from 2020. The court documents contained 30 pages of screenshots from my Social Media posts. My book tells the truth of my experience and does not name any real characters I published under a pen name to protect the identity of the former partner, as my social profiles were in the name of Lifechangeplans, my Website, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram Medium and Facebook. In August 2023 I published the Spanish translated version, if I was going to appear in court for criminal defamation my book was going to be evidence so that was why I decided to republish in 2023.
