Help Us Fight for Justice and Equality!
Our family is at the heart of a fight for justice, equality, and the rightful inheritance of our ancestor, Cyrus Kingsbury, the grandson of the original missionary listed on the Choctaw Roll. Despite our documented lineage and legal standing, we are being denied our inheritance because of racial discrimination and a technicality rooted in ambiguous language from a congressional promulgation.
The state court has ruled in favor of the defendants who obtained the land in question under questionable circumstances, citing the omission of a single comma in the congressional language as justification for denying our family’s rightful claim. This decision disregards the intent of the law and perpetuates the systemic injustice that has long marginalized descendants of Black and Indigenous families.
Even more troubling, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) has refused to intervene, leaving us to stand alone in this uphill legal battle. However, we are not alone in this struggle. Across the nation, countless families have faced similar denials of justice due to ambiguities in the law, discriminatory practices, or outright exploitation of vulnerable communities.
We are reaching out to others who have experienced this type of injustice and to those who believe in the principles of fairness, equity, and the rule of law. Your support will help us mount a strong legal challenge to overturn this unjust ruling and set a precedent that ensures others in similar situations will not face the same fate.
How Your Contribution Helps:
Legal Representation: Help us secure the resources needed to engage top legal experts familiar with cases involving congressional land disputes, racial discrimination, and historical injustices.
Research and Documentation: Support the vital research required to uncover historical records, congressional intent, and other cases that demonstrate systemic discrimination.
Community Advocacy: Assist us in building a coalition of families and advocates to challenge these practices on a broader scale.
This is more than a fight for our family; it is a fight for justice that could protect countless others from losing what is rightfully theirs. Please join us in this cause by contributing what you can and sharing our story with others. Together, we can ensure that justice prevails for our family and for all who have been denied their rights due to systemic inequities.
Thank you for your support.
