Justice for Oshie



Oshie and his family desperately need your help. An unfortunate incident has landed him in lock up in Warren county, and if we can’t get justice for Oshie he will be deemed a vicious dog and euthanized.

Look at this face? Is this the face of a vicious or dangerous dog? He’s more like a cat who loves perching on the backs of couches. He’s never been without a warm bed or a caring hand, he was born into rescue with Lu’s Labs. This sweet dog was treated with love from the moment he was born. In his loving home with his adopters since he was 11-weeks-old, the entire family is beside themselves with fear of Oshie’s fate. 8-month-old Oshie is likely scared and confused as well.

In fact, scared is probably how this whole saga started in the first place.
When you are only an 8-month-old cuddly yellow lab pup and someone scared enters your home, surprises you, and you sense their fear and react with your own fear - it can all go upside down too quickly.

This is exactly what happened when a relative and her 7-year-old daughter came for a visit to Oshie’s house. The little girl was scared of Oshie so she hid behind her mom. Suddenly she popped out from behind her mom and startled Oshie. Now he was scared of her too.

Her sudden presence caught him off guard, he reacted with his mouth, and bit her on the back of the arm. This kind of bite can be painful and scary to a little girl, and warranted a hospital visit, but by no means was it life threatening. It was not delivered by a vicious dog. It was not given by a dangerous dog. It was the result of a scared startled dog. In the end it resulted in a single stitch.
A single stitch could be the end of Oshie.

No one wants this to happen. Not the family. Not the cousin who came for a visit with her daughter, and not the daughter herself who is healing quickly. But that’s not how it works.
While this was a total accident, a complete freak accident, the guardian of the young person bitten can’t even have a say in the dog’s fate. It’s in the hands of the legal system. And that means money. That means a lot of money needs to be raised to get justice for Oshie. Can you spare some change, the cost of a cup of coffee, or forgo one takeout pizza?

Please help this family get their amazing dog back. He’s a cuddler not a fighter, he graduated from puppy kindergarten and has responsible owners who only want to keep him safe. He knows tricks and games, and loves to play.

Expenses include:

Lawyer fees: Already up to $2500
$25 a day for being in the shelter, he will be kept there until the court decides what will happen to him.
All money dontated will be put directly towards helping find Justice for Oshie.  Anything extra will be given to Lu’s Labs to help them to continue to save other dogs.
