Hector Martinez, an inspirational, considerate, and hard-working student, is unfortunately currently in ICE custody and is facing the threat of deportation.
Hector arrived to the United States from El Salvador five years ago with dreams of building a life here. Over the last four years, Hector has been a joy to get to know and teach at school. He’s extremely self-motivated and committed to educational success, while also striving for success of others. A student who excels in math, Hector supports and collaborates with peers, helping to build culture and create an inclusive setting in the classroom. He is endlessly generous, whether translating for English learners, assisting teachers and staff at school, or helping pay rent at home. Hector performed so well in Algebra and Geometry that he was recommended for International Baccalaureate (IB) math coursework, and was one of the first Spanish native students to enroll in IB classes at his school. He is on track to graduate next school year, taking both classes at his high school and with Delgado dual enrollment.
Hector is quiet, sweet, respectful and protective, and he deserves us to fight for him. Hector’s family has secured a hopeful attorney to represent his case. They need two things from us – letters of support and funds.
Bond was set at $10,000. In order to get Hector out of ICE and ready to continue school while he fights his case in court, he and his family need at least $11,000. In order to fight his case, he likely needs an additional $3-5,000, so around $15,000 total. Please give what you are able.
