<div>On January 30th, 2023, Gabriel Cuen Buitimea was walking peacefully with another migrant through a ranch outside of Nogales, Arizona when a retiree with vigilante fantasies opened fire on him. Gabriel was struck in the back and killed. In a recording later that day, the retiree referred to Gabriel several times as “an animal.” The murder trial ended in a hung jury, and today the murderer walks free.
